This is a recommendation to individuals within the book club, not a recommendation for the book club. I bought this book at Powells' during my trip to Portland and Rhea's graduation. The staff at Powells' is the most knowledge book store staff I ever run across and they usually have a dozen or so books that carry the tag "recommended by the staff". I've learned these are pretty sure bets. This book was one of them. The story takes place mostly during the late '50s and early '60s and has three focal areas: 1) the CIA in it's heyday, 2) The Mid-East, and 3) this family whose Dad is a CIA spy. I confess the CIA and the Mid-East are not my favorite topics so I hesitated to read this book despite its high recommendations. But because these weren't my favorite topics I knew very little about them, and I thought this would be a painless even enjoyable way to learn.
